Wallace & Tiernan® Monitoring Systems

Disinfection and the maintenance of low residual levels in water distribution systems is becoming more and more demanding with the requirement for greater accuracy and increased reliability.

As pioneers of the continuous amperometric measurement of chlorine residuals in water, the range of Wallace & Tiernan® Products has continued to develop and expand its offering of on-line measuring systems to include other oxidants, pH, Redox, Turbidity and Dissolved Oxygen. This range includes the exciting new product, HydraClam®, an innovative purpose-built system developed in conjunction with Salamander Limited, for monitoring the quality of mains water.

To compliment these products, a full range of accessories is also available to enhance the control and operation of chemical feed and disinfection systems. The Forceflow range of Level, Usage and Feed Rate Monitoring equipment provide accurate indication of under or over feeding of chemicals used in processes and can help accurately monitor chemical usage to reduce operating costs. The products can be viewed in our Accessories & Spares section.

Potable Water Quality Measurement

HydraClam® Analyser
We are pleased to announce the introduction of an innovative new product, the Hydraclam®, as a market extension to our existing online measuring systems.
HydraClam is a purpose-built system for monitoring the quality of mains water. It fits directly onto standard UK water mains hydrants and will record the four parameters of pressure, turbidity, electrical conductivity and temperature.

Water is purged from the system prior to measurement to ensure that only a fresh sample water is analysed.

The unit is configured using a PDA via an RS232 interface and stored data can be downloaded to the PDA from the HydraClam.

The HydraClam is of a robust design and is totally submersible.

Development of the unit has been in conjunction with Salamander Limited and is based on our experience of water quality measurement within both municipal
and industrial water applications.

Potable Water and Wastewater Residual Measurement

MICRO 2000® Residual Cell
The Wallace & Tiernan® Micro 2000 Residual Cell is the industry's most versatile, accurate and reliable on-line instrument for continuous measurement of oxidant residuals. High accuracy and the ability to mea-sure low residuals down to 1 PPB bring a new level of efficiency to the disinfection process regardless of the application. From potable water and wastewater treatment to cooling water, swimming pools and industrial processes, the Micro2000 Residual Cell helps you control your entire treatment process from pre-treatment using Potassium Permanganate, Chlorine Dioxide or Chlorine to distribution residual monitoring of Chloramines or free Chlorine.

Potable Water and Wastewater Residual Measurement

DEOX 2000 Analyzer

The Wallace & Tiernan® Deox 2000 Dechlorination Analyser is the most effective on-line instrument for accurate measurement of both SO2 and total Chlorine residuals in waste-water plant effluent. With its "center zero" residual analysis capability, con-trol to an SO2 setpoint is achievable and ensures complete dechlorination at a level to support compliance with dis-charge permits. Costly SO2 overdosing is eliminated. The Deox/2000 uses a unique process to measure sulfite residuals. It is based on the principle of biasing the sample with an iodine source which is unaffect-ed by sample quality. With a stable "iodine bias", SO2 or Cl2 residuals are automatically determined from the measured amount of iodine reacted with the sample

Potable Water Residual Measurement

Depolox® 4 Residual Cell
The DEPOLOX ®4 measuring cell consists of a plexiglass body mounted on a housing accommodating a built-in flow control valve. The transparent plexiglass body means that the flow of sample water and correct measurement conditions can be visually checked at any time, this includes the rotation of grit in order to clean the electrodes and the quality of the electrolyte (KCI).
The actual CI2 measurement is performed using a 3-electrode configuration mounted in the lower part of the plexiglass body. The 3-electrode potentiostatic measurement principle is used. Optionally, a Pt100 sensor for temperature compensation can be fitted alongside the CI2 electrodes in the cell. Combined measuring and reference electrodes can be fitted in the drilled holes in the cover of the DEPOLOX® 4 to measure the pH value and redox potential.
